In 2019’s Tbilisi Art Fair, Nana Zaalishvili presented the installation Element, featuring chairs made of Diabazi and Basalt stone. These two solid stone chairs from the Element collection marked the first time the series was experimented in stone, reflecting the material’s solidity, color variations, porous surfacesand sculptural character. The pieces were realized in collaboration with Kamara Stone artisans, working with Georgian materials. On the back wall, the concept was explained, highlighting its close connection to traditional Georgian Oda houses and Giorgi Chakhava’s concrete invention, the “Construction Element,” accompanied by archival photos and Soviet-era bus stops.
Two wooden Element black stools were also presented in Artbeat Gallery’s space.
