Made from textured aluminum and Georgian walnut, the ‘Brick’ candleholder exhibits a minimalist and expressive design, blending raw natural elements with the industrial refinement. It features a dark walnut base displaying the rough geometry and rich grain, adding a sense of history and character. It is carefully handcrafted to ensure a unique quality and long-lasting design.
The sculptor begins by taming solid walnut trunks sourced from the Georgian regions. Using traditional woodworking techniques making process draws attention to the material’s natural character, transforming the once-monolithic logs into a structured mass adding the textured aluminum on top evoking the delicate flow of melting wax of the candle. The ‘Brick’ Floor Candleholder is a sculptural lighting piece that seamlessly fits into modern interiors adding ritualic yet artistic statement, evoking a sense of tranquility.
Shape of the ‘Brick’ marks the first attempt by Idaaf Architects to develop a new building material. While the process of selecting its textures is ongoing, we have used its form to create a variety of decorative elements for interior spaces.
